When Lynn Hellman and her sons Elliot and Ben arrive at her parent’s Maryland estate for the wedding of her oldest son, Dylan, it’s chaos as usual. Her father pacemaker won’t stop going off. Her story about Elliot spending the past few months in Sweden rather than rehab doesn’t go over well. Her eternally optimistic mother, Doris, and her control freak sister, Donna, battle with each other as they try to make everything perfect. And finally, the icing on the cake, her ex-husband, Paul, and his prettier, younger wife, Tammy arrive for the wedding. Exhibiting the hysterics than only a family wedding can provide, writer-director Sam Levinson portays these laugh-out-loud altercations and life-changing events with a warm heart.
